8 Unique Ways to Promote, Market and Sell Offline

8 Unique Ways to Promote, Market and Sell Offline

Today, with the invention of technology, many business owners have resolved to selling online by leveraging the internet in marketing their products. However, traditional sales(,offline) should not be neglected, as it contributes also to the growth of businesses. Some entrepreneurs see this and thus involve both offline and online strategies in promoting their sales, while some prefer to sell offline or online alone. Whichever category you fall into, you need to understand that you can make amazing sales even from offline sales, it only requires some strategies which I will show you in this article.

  1. Word of mouth promotion: many entrepreneurs do not see reasons for embracing or fostering word of mouth promotion, but the truth is, the things you say and do in promoting your business will go a long way in determining your reputation. Do not ignore the power of word for word or word of mouth promotion. You will be thrilled at how encouraging a result you get when you start implementing it.
  2. Business card: your business card speaks so much about you and about your business. No matter the presence you carry and the utility of your product, you will be acknowledged more if you have a business card than when you don’t. You could meet some random person and drop your business card with them( your business card should contain some personal information like your business name, your office address and phone number amongst other things). Your business card should be available in your pocket always or in your briefcase.
  3. Flyers: paper flyers have been effective since time past and are still pretty much effective. Although you might not get an instant output for paper flyers, but they sure contribute to the image of your Enterprise. Like business cards, flyers should contain your business details like your business name, office location, contact address and even E-mail address. This will make it easier for anyone who comes in contact with the flyers to reach you.

4. Display marketing: every online strategy was adopted from offline. Display marketing we believe is a feature common mainly online with Google ads and other advertisement sites, but the gist is, there are offline display marketing techniques some of which include:

Stickers: you can design stickers to suit your business goals with your work information clearly printed on them and have them pasted on your cars, your entrance or anywhere you are so certain people will notice them. This way, anyone who sees your car or who enters your house or office will quickly pay attention to the details on the sticker, and that would with consciously or unconsciously register in their mind.

Balloons, T-shirt, biro, USBs etc.:  You can have your business details designed on shirts, biros etc. and offer them as gifts to your customers. They would appreciate it and by making use of the gifts, they would be making your business known to a larger audience. For instance, if a customer wears your company’s t-shirt from Lagos to Kano, do you know how many people who would encounter him and notice the T-shirt.?. This is an offline business promotion strategy that works well.

5. Media promotion: you could also promote your business offline by advertising in local newspapers. You could visit the paper house and inform them of your intention to advertise in their paper by purchasing a free space to run your advert. This will bring your business to the limelight of everyone who reads newspaper. Asides newspaper, you could also visit the media outlets in your areas and pay for an advert jingle. They will be willing to help you with the advertisement, because advertisement contributes immensely to the sustainability of their media houses.

6. Organize offline training: organizing free trainings is one other way to promote your business offline. Make your intentions about the training known through various advertisement channels, so that you could record a high level of participation and attendance. Make sure the training is free as people embrace more of free things than paid things( besides, making it free will earn you more honor). Make the training as impactful as possible, then let the participants know about you, what you do and your product. You might even use the opportunity to introduce a new product to them and allow them to give their comments about it. This will not only help you know the strength and weaknesses of your product, it will also help you get better. Furthermore, in doing this, you will achieve two things, if not more. First is you get to know and see people’s reception of your product and second is you get a chance to interact with your customers (customers relation), thereby creating a strong bond and leverage for your business .

7. Giveaway and discounts: just like you can conduct giveaway online, you can also conduct offline. Studies have shown that people tend to embrace more of things they get freely than things which require their payment, this is why you need to leverage giveaway as a means of promoting your offline business. Don’t be too stingy in considering the profit on sales you might not get if you gave some of your goods away, rather, consider the profit on customers’ retention. Doing giveaways will not only help in promoting your business, it will also earn you more respect and patronage. If you are involved in expensive products like automobile, giveaways might be costly for you because they might result in more loss and debt, so instead of giving them a whole car, you could give them a discount on sales (10-20percent) depending on your target gain, or you could sell at your normal prices but give them a different package that isn’t produced by you but will be useful to your product, e.g. engine oil. This will make them more appreciative of your products. Some will even refer friends.

8. Sponsor events: having learnt of an event, you could decide to talk to the organizers and inform them of your intention to co-sponsor the event or you could offer a number of your products as souvenirs. You will gain acknowledgement this way.

Promoting your business offline is as easy as online, and you could even get more responses offline than you would online, it’s all about of doing things the right way
