How to Create and Sell Your E-book Online

How to Create and Sell Your E-book Online

There are several opportunities available online that offers you the chance of making passive income from the comfort of your room, without getting yourself into anything that’s illegal. One of those many opportunities is writing an e-book, publishing and selling it online, without paying a dime.

Do you fall in the category of people interested in creating their e-books and making money out of it, but you’ve been having difficulties getting it done, or you don’t even know how to go about it? Here are 5 steps to follow, to create your e-book and sell it online.

  1. Find A Lucrative Niche

The first most important secret of making great sales on your e-book online, is finding a lucrative niche that your e-book can be on. There are several factors that defines a lucrative niche, and these are the factors you can or should look out for whenever you’re finding one that you can write your e-book on.

The first factor is desperation. Your chosen niche should be one that gives you the opportunity to provide your ideas as solutions to some problems that people are desperate to solve. Take for instance during the period that banks were deducting stamp duty from their customers account, and a lot of people were desperately in need of answers on why that is happening and how they can stop it.

Writing an e-book during that period, that contains answers to those questions people were having concerning the stamp duty that is being deducted from their account, would guarantee your making great sales with your e-book, considering the fact that people are desperate to find answers, they would want to buy or download your book to check out for answers to their questions.

Aside the fact that this example expresses people’s desperation and making money out of it, it also shows urgency, which is the second factor you should look out for when selecting a niche for your e-book. Yes, you’re sure that people are desperately in need of answers, do they need it now? That’s what would determine if your book would sell out as soon as you get it published.

Picking a niche like the one explained above, offers you the opportunity of reaching a wide range of audience, considering the number of people who are experiencing this difficulty and are in need of answers. Those people are your market, and the wider your market space, the more money you’ll be able to make.

How to Create and Sell Your E-book Online

  1. Research the Niche and Create A Book Title

Your whole work doesn’t end after you find a niche, you need to do a little bit of research on that niche. You need to find out if there are pre-existing e-book in that same niche you’re about to write on, and if there are, check to see how those books are doing, in terms of the ranking and number of purchases made, to see how lucrative the niche already is.

You should also look out for ranking keywords that you can include in your book title, for people to easily find your e-book. The ranking keywords are the most searched words in that niche, and if you can create your title around those keywords, it would help your book’s ranking.

Aside including keywords in your title, your book title should also be catchy and intriguing enough to provoke your prospective readers to want to check out the book, and buy or download it.

  1. Build Your Content Around the Niche

It’s not just enough to find a niche and create an interesting title, your content should also express the niche and the title. If you’re writing about deactivating stamp duty, your content should be exclusively about that, you don’t need to exaggerate or include unrelated contents. The examples or action steps you would be writing about should be on the chosen niche.

If your content is different from your title or book description, it would affect your sales. Those who’ve read the book and have found out that it’s not what the title or description says it is, would give bad reviews about the book, and that might impede the number of sales or the amount of money you would make on the book.

  1. Find an Online Publishing Platform

Once you’re sure that you’re done with the book, and it’s ready for publishing, the next thing is to find a popular and profitable publishing platform. The more popular the platform is, the higher your chances of making great sales.

There are several online publishing platforms available now, the common ones being amazon, Cribd, Shopify, Booktango, etc. These platforms give you the opportunity to publish your e-book online without paying a dime, and their reader base, would automatically become your prospective buyers. So, the larger the platform the higher the number of prospective buyers that you would have.

These platforms only work with commissions on each sale made, and the percentage would be set as soon as your book is published. The whole process is transparent enough.

How to Create and Sell Your E-book Online

  1. Market Your E-book

The final step that you need to take to sell your e-book online and make great sales, is to market it. There are several mediums that you can use to put words out there about your book, and possibly get more people to check it out, and buy or download it.

You can make use of the social media platforms, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn etc. These platforms offer you the opportunity of getting a wider reach when you market on there. You could subscribe for their ads, or if you have enough followers already, just make a post about your book, and you can also get influencers to do it for you.

Your contacts are your prospective buyers, including your followers, so put words out there about your book, get more people to know about it and use interesting captions that can get people’s attention.

You can also publish your book reviews on popular blogs and websites that have large number of daily readers. Your reviews are your book testimonies, and if people can get an idea of what is contained in the book and how useful the contents are, they might be encouraged to check it out.
