Another advantage of hashtags is that it allows you to be current on what is going on in your industry. Hashtags are a way to give you a clue on what people are buzzing about in the world. It also helps you to follow your competitors closely and know what people are saying about your brand. If you want other users to engage on your post, you should use hashtags that are more specific to your brand. You can’t use a general hashtag and expect people to engage on the post.

  • Keep it simple

When using hashtags, you should use something that people are looking for and can easily remember. Hashtags should be short, precise, simple and easy to remember. It shouldn’t be too difficult to spell or pronounce, so you can engage your audience better. At a glance, it should give your audience what the conversation is about, and what they can easily relate with. The point is to find topics that are engaging.

They can be based on news topics or business world, or something about a celebrity. You should take advantage of those trending hashtags in your posts. As much as it is important to use trending hashtags to increase your brand visibility, it is also essential to make sure that the post gives value, else it would just be lost amidst many other posts.

When you use the hashtags on your different social media handles, it makes it easier for people to remember and relate with. You can use it on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Pinterest.

  • Don’t overuse hashtags

Too many hashtags give the people the impression that you’re spamming them. You shouldn’t use more than one or two hashtags in a post. The point is to make your page engaging, but when it becomes too much, people get bored and you’d be sending the wrong impression about your brand.
