Are you feeling irritable, bloated or simply not feeling good? The reason for this could be hormonal imbalance. Note that hormones are the chemical messengers that affect the way our organs and cells function.

More so, it is quite normal for our levels to shift at different times in our lives. It can shift before and during pregnancy or period, or even during menopause. However, there are times that certain medications and health problems may cause them to go up or down.

According to Healthline.com, our hormones are produced in the endocrine glands. And these chemicals travel all over our bloodstream and tells the organs and tissues what to do.

They assist in controlling most of our body’s primary processes, and this includes reproduction and metabolism. If you have a hormonal imbalance, you have either too little or too much of a specific hormone.

It further means that the tiniest changes can have crucial effects all over your body. Although some hormones fluctuate throughout our lifetime, and this may be due to natural ageing, note that other changes may occur when the endocrine glands have all the recipe wrong.

Take note that hormonal imbalance happens when the hormone in the bloodstream is too much or too few. Sue to their major role in the human body, any little hormonal imbalances can result in side effects all over the body.

The hormones are chemicals that are generated by glands found in the endocrine system. These hormones travel through our bloodstream to the organs and tissues and deliver messages that tell our organs all that they should do and when they should do it.

If you never knew, our hormones are vital for regulating most of our primary bodily processes. More so, a hormonal imbalance can affect a vast range of bodily functions. Our hormones assist in regulating:

  • Appetite and metabolism
  • Sleep cycles
  • Heart rate
  • Overall growth and development
  • Sexual function and reproductive cycles
  • Stress and mood levels
  • Body temperature

Both men and women can get affected by an imbalance in growth hormones, steroids, insulin, and adrenaline. For women, they may further experience imbalances in progesterone and estrogen levels.

As for men, they are most likely to experience imbalances in their teetering levels.

Symptoms Or Signs For Hormonal Imbalance

According to Healthline.com, our hormones play a vital role in our general health. As a result, there is a wide range of symptoms or signs that can signal a hormonal imbalance.

Note that the signs or symptoms will be dependent on the hormones or glands that are not functioning properly. The common hormonal conditions that affect both women and men can cause the following symptoms or signs. They include:

Treatment For Hormonal Imbalance

The treatment for hormonal imbalances tends to vary as it is dependent on the cause. Therefore, each person that has it may need different types of treatment. The treatment option for women having hormonal imbalance are:

  • Birth control or hormone control

Some medications contain forms of progesterone and estrogen for women who are no longer trying to get pregnant. These medications can assist in regulating irregular symptoms and menstrual cycles.

However, people can take birth control medications as a patch, shot, IUD (Intrauterine device), ring or pill.

  • Vaginal estrogen

People who experience vaginal dryness linked with estrogen levels can apply creams that contain estrogen directly to their vaginal tissues to decrease the symptoms.

One can also make use of estrogen tablets and rings to decrease vaginal dryness.

  • Hormone replacement medications

Bear in mind that there are medications available to temporarily decrease severe symptoms linked with menopause. These symptoms can be night sweats or hot flashes.

  • Vaniqa (Eflornithine)

This is a prescription cream that may slow down excessive facial hair growth in women.

  • Anti-androgen medications

These are medications that help in blocking the predominantly male-sex hormone androgen. As a result, it can help to limit severe acne and excess hair loss or growth.

  • Clomiphene (Clomid) and Letrozole (Femara)

These medications assist in stimulating ovulation in people who have PCOS or people trying to get pregnant. In addition, people with PCOS and infertility may likely be given injections of gonadotropins to assist in increasing their chances of pregnancy.

  • Assisted reproductive technology

IVF (In Vitro Fertilization) may likely be used in helping those with PCOS complications to get pregnant.

More so, the treatment options for anybody with hormonal imbalances are:

  • Metformin

This is a medication for type 2 diabetes. However, it can assist in managing or lowering blood sugar levels.

  • Levothyroxine

The medications that contain levothyroxine, like Synthroid and Levothroid, can assist in improving symptoms of hypothyroidism.

As for the treatment options for men with hormonal imbalances, they include:

  • Testosterone medications

Patches and gels that contain testosterone can assist in reducing symptoms of hypogonadism. It can also help reduce the conditions that cause reduced testosterone levels, like stunted or delayed puberty.

Those who may be suffering from hormonal imbalance disorder are the necessary treatments that will help.
