Fireboy DML real name, biography, net worth, achievements, and relationships
Adedamola Adefolahan is the actual name of Fireboy DML. He is a singer and composer from Nigeria who gained fame with his 2019 debut album, “Laughter, Tears, and Goosebumps,” which topped the charts. The Nigerian singer Olamide formed the independent record label YBNL Nation, where Fireboy was signed. Olamide’s popular song “Jealous,” which gathered millions of streams and had extensive radio broadcast, helped Fireboy gain notoriety. At the 2020 Soundcity MVP Awards Festival, the song earned him the Listener’s Choice Award and a Song of The Year nomination.
On February 5, 1996, Fireboy DML was born into the family of Mr. and Mrs. Adefolahan. He spent his formative years there with his parents and brothers. He was born and raised in the historic Yoruba city of Abeokuta. In his family, he is the lone male child. He is a Yoruba man since Ogun State, in the South West, is where he was born. Fireboy DML was raised a Christian and was born into a Christian family. His parents’ faith in him not only instilled in him solid morals but also a passion for music. Because he and his parents were regular churchgoers, he rapidly grew fond of the choir and became utterly enthralled by the process of creating music. When he grew older and joined the choir, he soon had the opportunity to put his artistic talent to the test.
During this time, Fireboy DML’s artistic flame began to burn, and he began to take music more seriously. He would take breaks from his schoolwork whenever possible to write tunes. After some time, to the delight of his brothers and close friends, he started singing these songs live. He quickly rose to fame in his school as a talented kid with a great voice and the ability to write catchy songs. But because he was a smart student, he was typically perceived as a nerd. He also used prescription glasses around this time. He also possessed the ability to write, which he thoroughly explored in the form of poetry. When he was younger, he had a reputation for writing lovely poems.
Coupled with a recent agreement with global record label Empire, FireBoy DML has achieved a great deal thus far in his career. There is no denying that Fireboy DML is one of the top musicians in the nation. Achieving this level indicates that he has a consistent but sizable cash stream from his musical endeavors. As a result, Fireboy DML is thought to be worth between US$3 million and US$7 million.
During his time as an undergraduate at Obafemi Awolowo University, Fireboy DML’s musical journey deepened. His songwriting time increased, and he started recording them in a studio near the school. He eventually joined the institution’s budding artists, which also included singer Asake and rappers Chinko Ekun, Cheque, and Blaqbonez. When Fireboy DML met YBNL Records’ head Olamide, his career as an artist was assured. The more established musician opted to sign him to YBNL Records after being pleased by his tone and songwriting skills. Before it was re-issued on March 25th, 2019, Jealous, his breakout track, had previously been published as a part of the label’s collaborative effort, YBNL Family. This choice was made because the song was already doing well on the radio and regularly got a ton of rotation across stations.
What If I Say, his second song, was released on June 14th, 2019. The song, which Pheelz wrote and produced, cemented Fireboy DML’s reputation as a rising talent. TG Omori both directed and shot the What If I Say music video. Fireboy DML released the number-one single King three months later, showcasing his great craftsmanship in the process. King received tens of thousands of streams in the weeks that followed its release. The music video for the song, which debuted on August 1st, 2019, was made by TG Omori.
On November 29, 2019, Fireboy DML finally finished recording his debut studio album, “Laughter, Tears, and Goosebumps,” to both critical praise and financial success. Over 6 million Spotify streams were accumulated for the 13-track album in just three days. He surprised the industry less than a year after the release of his debut album by revealing that a follow-up was in the works. On August 17, 2020, he released his sophomore album, Apollo. Hit singles like Champion, Tattoo, Eli, and New York City Girl were produced at Apollo. Fireboy DML created the international hit track Peru, which helped him burst into the global music arena, in another demonstration of his propensity for creating excellent music. He was successful in getting the singer Ed Sheeran’s request for collaboration on the song’s remix. The remix made its debut on the Billboard Hot 100 chart when it was released on February 5th, 2022. FireBoy first pursued his interest in the church choir at a young age after seeing how brilliant a vocalist and lyricist he was. With his unusual blend of afro-pop, pop, and R&B music, FireBoy DML captivates his audience and leaves them wanting more.
FireBoy’s ability to readily perform multi-syllabic rhymes in all of his songs and even experiment with words makes him suspect of having been a rapper in the past who transitioned to singing. Every rap standard is known to be incorporated into FireBoy DML’s lyrics, which makes his music distinctive and wins him admiration from rap enthusiasts. Olamide asked for Fireboy DML’s signature to join the YBNL Nation in October 2018 after being blown away by his performance at one of the gigs he attended. This was the beginning of Fireboy DML’s enormous success. After signing with YBNL, FireBoy DML released the chart-topping hit “Jealous,” which thrust the singer into the spotlight right once. Since then, FireBoy has been likened to Banku Music artist “Joeboy” and Mavin Records signee “Rema” because they are all young, brilliant Nigerian artists that are now succeeding and setting the standard for competitiveness among themselves as done by their varied followers.
