How to Treat Breast Cancer with Norland Products in Nigeria

(Lump in the armpit, pain in the breast, swelling, itching in the Nipple)

First and foremost, it must be noted that Cancer is quite a broad term. And, it describes the disease that occurs when cellular changes cause uncontrolled growth and cell divisions.

According to Medicalnewstoday.com, some types of cancer lead to swift cell growth, and others cause the cells to grow and split at a much slower rate.

Note that there are specific forms of Cancer that lead to visible growths known as tumours. And, others do not, like leukaemia. However, it must be noted that most of our body cells have certain functions and a fixed lifespan.

Though this may seem like a terrible thing, understand that cell death is only an aspect of a natural yet beneficial phenomenon regarded as apoptosis. Nevertheless, our focus in this article is on breast cancer.

All You Need To Know About Breast Cancer

According to Mayoclinic.org, breast cancer is regarded as Cancer that gets to form in the cells of the breasts. Aside from skin cancer, breast cancer is the most popular Cancer that is diagnosed in women.

However, it must be noted that this Cancer can occur in both men and women, though it is more common in females. Due to substantial support for breast cancer awareness and research funding, there have been advancements in the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer.

Note that the survival rate of breast cancer has actually increased, and the amount of deaths linked with the disease is subtly declining. This is majorly due to certain factors like early detection, a new and personalized approach to treatment, plus a more comprehensive understanding of the disease.

For Webmd.com, even though men can get this disease, they only account for less than one percent of all breast cancer cases. Unfortunately, breast cancer is also the second leading cause of cancer deaths after lung cancer.

On average, one in eight women has been stated to develop breast cancer during their lifetime. Furthermore, roughly two-thirds of women that have breast cancer are fifty-five years or older.

More so, the others who get diagnosed with breast cancer are between thirty-five and fifty-four. However, do not get your hopes dashed as the fortunate news is that this disease is very treatable when detected early.

The localized Cancer can be treated before it even gets to spread. For those unaware, localized Cancer means that it has not spread outside the breast. Nevertheless, once it begins spreading, treatment tends to be more difficult.

Although, the treatment can help to control the disease for years.

Symptoms Of  Breast Cancer

According to Webmd.com, some of the symptoms of this disease are:

  • A thickened area or lump in or close to your breast or underarm that lasts throughout your period
  • Change in breast shape, curve or size
  • Nipple discharge that can be clear or bloody
  • Mass or lump even if it feels small like a pea
  • Changes in the skin of the breast or even the nipple. This change can be scaly, inflamed, puckered or even dimpled.
  • Red skin on the nipple or breast
  • Changes in the position or shape of the nipple
  • Hard, marble-sized spot underneath the skin
  • A specific area that is different from all other areas on either of the breasts.

Stages Of Breast Cancer

If you are unaware, there are diverse ways that doctors can discover the stage of breast cancer that you have. They can get clues from:

  • Biopsies
  • X-ray
  • Bone scans
  • Physical exams
  • Blood tests, etc.

The breast cancer stages are identified by the number zero and roman numerals such as:

  • I
  • II
  • III, or;
  • IV

And, they are closely followed by alphabets A, B or C. Generally, the hunger the number, the more advanced cancer is.

Nevertheless, the stages of breast cancer according to Webmd.com, include:

  • Stage 0

This stage means that the cancer was diagnosed early. It began in the breast ducts or even the milk gland and stayed there.

  • Stage 1

This stage means that breast cancer is regarded as invasive. This means that it has broken free to attack your healthy tissues.

  • Stage 1A

This stage means that the Cancer has fully spread into the fatty breast tissue. Here, the tumour is not larger than a shelled peanut or, there might be no tumour.

  • Stage 1B

This stage means that some cancer cells, though little amounts, have been found in some lymph nodes.

  • Stage II

Here, the Cancer has either grown or spread. Or, it has done both.

  • Stage IIA

At this stage, the tumour in the breast is still quite small, if there is any tumour at all. So here, Cancer might not be in the lymph nodes or, it may have likely spread to as many lymph nodes, like three.

  • Stage IIB

Here, it means that the breast tumour is now bigger, and it may even be the size of a walnut or can be compared to the size of a lime. It may be found or not be found in any of the lymph nodes.

  • Stage III

In this stage, the Cancer has not spread to the organs or bones. However, it is considered to be advanced, and it is more difficult to fight.

  • Stage IIIA

At this point, Cancer has been found in about nine of the lymph nodes that form a chain. This chain is formed from the underarm to the collarbone. Or, the Cancer has spread to or probably enlarged the lymph nodes deep in the breast.

There are cases wherein there is a huge tumour in the breast, though there is no tumour.

  • Stage IIIB

This stage means that the tumour has fully grown into the chest wall or even the skin around the breast. It has grown in these places but may not have spread into the lymph nodes.

  • Stage IIIC

Here, it means that Cancer has been found in ten or even more lymph nodes. Or it means that it has spread below or above the collarbone. Doctors may term it stage IIIC if fewer lymph nodes outside the breast are affected, yet those inside it are cancerous or bigger.

  • Stage IV

At this stage, the breast cancer cells have spread far from the breast and lymph nodes. Instead, the most common sites to find them are the liver, brain, bones and lungs. As a result, stage IV is often described as the metastatic stage.

This means that it has spread far beyond the region of the body where it was found initially.

Treatment Of Breast Cancer

According to the Cdc.gov, breast cancer can be treated in diverse ways. However, it will depend on the kind of breast cancer and how far it can spread. If you never knew, those with breast cancer usually have more than one kind of treatment.

The treatment can be:

  • Surgery

Here, the operation involves the doctors cutting out the cancer tissue.

  • Chemotherapy

Special medicines will be used to kill or shrink the cancer cells. Note that the drugs can be pills you take or medicines are given to you in your veins. It can be both sometimes.

  • Hormonal therapy

This will block the cancer cells from getting the hormones that they need to grow.

  • Biological therapy

This therapy functions with the body’s immune system to assist it in fighting cancer cells or to control the side effects of all other cancer treatments.

  • Radiation therapy

Here, high energy rays that are like x-rays will be used to kill the cancer cells.

According to Medicinenet.com, doctors or medical professionals will administer targeted therapy, chemotherapy or radiation therapy after the surgery. As for metastatic breast cancer, its treatment entails chemotherapy, targeted therapy and advanced hormone therapy.
