List of telecommunication companies in Nigeria

Have you ever wondered how you could send and receive information over long distances? Telecommunications, right? Since the introduction of GSM to Nigerians in the early years of the 21st century, many telecommunication companies have found their way into the nation.

In fact, your access to this article is made possible by these telecommunication companies. From internet services, mobile network facilities, home entertainment packages, and fixed-line broadband, here is the list of telecommunication companies in Nigeria.

  1. MTN Nigeria:

MTN is one of the oldest telecommunications companies in Nigeria. MTN Nigeria has been providing telecoms service to Nigerians for over two decades. At close to $2 billion in investment, MTN Nigeria is bent on providing fast and reliable telephone and internet services to their customers nationwide. This has indeed paid off as they are one of the leading telecommunication companies in Nigeria, owning about 40 percent of the market share. MTN Nigeria is a member of the MTN Group with head office in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The project, Glo-1 high capacity fiber optic cable, cost $800 million. Glo mobile, as it is popularly known, offers high-speed internet data services for a low price to their subscribers nationwide. It’s not all bad, though. Since its establishment, 9mobile has been providing fast and reliable telecom services to its customers. It is well known for its fast internet service. 9mobile originates from the first set of numbers Etisalat issued to its customers (0809…) and from the slogan 0809ja (reads oh-eight-oh nine-ja).
